DJ J HART , DJ STATIK SELEKTAH |
To introduce What Goes Around, Statik said he did this it because of Kanye West who told him 2 years ago that the "Jazz is dead" (No Comment) after Statik played him Jazzy Boom Bap beats . And I can say that the answer is an amazing Jazz inspired album which keep the Jazz and the Boom Bap alived. The tracklist is also dope with feat. from Snoop Dogg, Action Bronson, Talib Kwelli, Lil'Fam, Dilated Peoples and more (Check below).
You know I don't like to talk too much because I prefer people let people do their own judgment so as a review I will tell you my TOP 3. Also, If you ask me about my favorite Djs, I will mention for sure Dj Statik Selektah because of his dedication to maintain the Hip Hop culture and his productions style. So I just say, if you about hip hop you must buy 'What Goes Around' not because the featuring list is crazy or because it's the best Statik Album to me but because it's an Album. By "Album" I mean a record worked with consistance, meaning and a concept which is a kind of rare in this new indie era world, lol. Now wait for Kanye's answer...
#1 All The Way Feat. Snoop Dogg, Wais P, Ransom & CharlieRED (Pimp Hop) : If . you like Curtis by Jays and Kanye or Bridging The Gap by Nas , you will turn it up on this one !
#2 Carry On Feat. Joey Bada$$ & Freddie Gibbs : Scratch + Boom Bap + Lyrics = This is all I need. About this track stay tune because the video should drope very soon...
#3 Something To Cry For feat. Boldy James : (NO PREVIEW AVAILABLE) my favorite sample used for this album and as usual Boldy did the job ! If you like the Queensbridge sounds era, this is for you. Also, like is said in my East Coast Draft Mixtape, Boldy James will probably the MC who will blow out in 2015...
I have to mention as well the track Get Away feat. Joe Scudda and Collin Munroe, indeed Joe did this track while his father passed away...A lot of emotions on this track where you can feeling Joe Scudda crying.
PS : Shout out to James and DuckDown for the Guest !
I added a couple of pictures did during this listening session, Bless - DJ J HART
